Industries We Know

We are drawn to businesses that serve real needs — the kind people rely on regardless of the economy.

Property Management

Recurring management contracts with embedded tenant and owner relationships.

Commercial Cleaning

Contract-based services with sticky, recurring client relationships and steady demand.

Pest Control

Subscription-based service businesses with high renewal rates and low customer churn.

Professional Home Services

Established operators delivering trusted, recurring services directly to homeowners.

HVAC / Plumbing

Essential home services with recurring maintenance contracts and year-round demand.

Healthcare Staffing

Placement businesses with established employer relationships and consistent recurring revenue.

Investment Thesis

We look for businesses that already work.

We acquire businesses retiring owners have built well — and protect what made them work while improving what can be better.

Stable, Recurring Revenue

We prioritize businesses with repeat customers, essential services, and predictable cash flows.

Long-Term Hold Horizon

We plan to own businesses for ten years or more. Sellers can trust our timeline aligns with their legacy goals.

Recession-Resilient Sectors

We prefer industries where demand holds even in downturns — professional services and local services.

AI-Resilient, Not AI-Avoidant

Businesses unlikely to be disrupted by AI — but that can use technology to become more efficient and scalable.

Local & Regional Presence

We begin where relationships matter: New York, Long Island, and select markets.

Acquisition Criteria

What we look for — and what we pass on.

We are disciplined and deliberate. We would rather wait for the right business than move quickly on the wrong one.

We are actively seeking

  • Retiring owner with strong transition intent and employee loyalty
  • A business built steadily over time with proven staying power
  • Stable or growing performance with a loyal, repeat customer base
  • Key management in place willing to stay on
  • Recurring or repeat customer revenue
  • Businesses with moats: loyalty, process, or niche positioning
  • Sports, fitness, professional services, local services
  • Asset purchase structure preferred; open to discussion

We will not pursue

  • Restaurants or brick-and-mortar retail
  • Highly seasonal businesses with volatile cash flow
  • Businesses with significant AI disruption risk
  • High customer concentration
  • Non-transparent sellers or unclear exit motivation
  • Unionised workforces or complex specialised licensing
  • Turnarounds, distressed assets, or declining revenue
  • Long-cycle project businesses with high working capital drag
Mark Zonneveldt, Founder of Sunnyfield Ventures

"I want sellers to feel that I am a serious buyer, but also a good person — someone they could sit down with and trust with something they spent years building."

Our Founder

From blue-collar roots to long-term ownership.

Mark Zonneveldt grew up in Australia in a blue-collar family — first-generation university, raised to respect hard work and understand exactly how much effort sits behind every dollar earned.

A career spent across accounting, audit, and corporate finance taught Mark how to read a business honestly — what's really driving its numbers, where the risks hide, and what it takes to protect what's been built. That same discipline is what sellers can expect from him at the table. Outside of business, Mark is a husband, father, and youth sports coach. He understands accountability, team culture, and what it means to put the team first.

"Financials are never just numbers on a page. They tell a story — but only if you know how to read them properly."

Now Mark sees a real opportunity: thousands of business owners approaching retirement with no succession plan. He wants to be the buyer they can trust — financially disciplined, personally grounded, and committed to the long term.

How We Operate

Our approach after acquisition.

We do not walk in with a hundred-day transformation plan. We walk in with a listening mindset and a long runway.

Days 1–9001

Listen First

We observe, ask questions, and learn how the business really works. No brash changes. Full trust-building with the team.

Days 90–18002

Establish Foundation

Financial controls, reporting visibility, and cash flow discipline. Quick-win improvements with minimal disruption.

Year 1–203

Grow Deliberately

With the right people in place, careful data-driven growth. Technology and culture improvements on a steady cadence.

Year 3+04

Scale & Steward

Focus on oversight, strategy, and identifying the next acquisition while the business runs well independently.

For Business Owners

Carrying Forward
What You Built.

If you have spent decades building a business and care about what happens to your employees, customers, and reputation after you leave — Sunnyfield Ventures was built for you.

We are not private equity. We are long-term owners who understand that culture, team, and community trust are often the most valuable assets in the building.

Our ideal conversation starts simply: tell us about your business. No pressure, no pitch.

  • We respect your legacy. We buy because your business is already successful.
  • Your employees matter to us. We see them as an extension of the responsibility we take on at closing.
  • We move at a reasonable pace. A good transition takes time.
  • We are financially disciplined. We do not waste your time with offers we cannot close.
  • We stay in touch. After closing, you will know the business is in good hands.

If you are thinking about selling in the next one to three years, it is not too early to have a conversation.

Let's Talk

Community & Values

Business should give back to the people who made it possible.

A successful business should be known not only for its product or service, but for how it treats its employees and gives back to the community. We are committed to sponsoring community youth sports, employee-led charity days, and local partnerships.
